#138 Jem and the Holograms

Although, I was not alive to enjoy the hit 80’s TV show Jem and the Holograms, I found them to be good role models. I discovered them when working a summer job and I was watching television. No, I was not slacking off, I was on break. This show Jem and the Holograms showed up and I instantly became addicted. The show about a young girl Jerrica Benton taking over her fathers music business. She forms a band with the help of Synergy, who every episode transforms her into Jem. No one knows who Jem is and many have tried to figure out her identity. Jem/Jerrica had help from her friends who played back up for her.

Another part of the show that I found to make them out to be good role models is that Starlight music has a foster home. Jerrica and her friends take over a house for foster girls and quickly become the role models the girls in the house need. All in all this truly outrageous show brought in a team of good female role models for children of the 80’s
