#129 Tracy Turnblad

Would you stand up for what is right, even if it means giving up your dreams? Well, that is exactly what Tracy Turnblad did in the hit musical Hairspray. The musical Hairspray takes place during the 1960’s in Baltimore when integration was on the rise. Tracy never felt any prejudice towards those who have different color skin than her. She knows that it is okay to be friends with them, when she was living in a world that said differently. Tracy gets her dream job dancing on the Corny Collins Show, but when she finds out that her African-American friends can no longer participate, due to blatant racism, she stands up for what she believes in and quits. She joined in a march with the African Americans showing her support for them. In the end, Tracy Turnblad always knew right from wrong, and sacrificed her dreams to stand up for what is right. I won’t give too much more away.
