800 years ago today (June 15, 1215) the Magna Carta was signed by King John of England. Originally, drafted by the Archbishop of Canterbury, this historic document has a place in our history. The document was intended to help tensions between rebel barons and a disliked King. Promising the protections of church rights, imprisonment from the barons, and access to swift justice, the most significant piece, to me, is the statement of limited payments to the crown. Til today, the legacy that comes with the Magna Carta lives on. Many years ago it was written and signed for civil liberties of barons and limited the power of the royals by peasants . Little did they know that the Magna Carta would influence so many in the future. Proving no on is above the law.
