Aurora

Aurora

Storm clouds gather above a memorial for the victims in the shooting across the street from the Century 16 movie theater in Aurora, Colorado, in July.

Men, women, and children

Filled the theater

To see a movie

That was anticipated

Little did they know

There was a man

Who decided to open fire

Upon the innocent

When he went up front

They thought it was for show

Part of the a promotion

For The Dark Knight Rises

They were wrong

With the gun shots deafening

The panic all around

No one knew what to do

Or where to go

They knew they had to leave

Before they were next

With twelve people gone

And fifty-eight injured

Several people

Had their lives

Ruined forever

The strength that was shown

By the small town

Of Aurora, Colorado

Is still shown today

For justice has happened

The perpetrator found guilty

May these souls rest in peace

And the injured find comfort

the relatives rest in that justice has been served

We will not forget what happened

That night

For all we know

It could have been

At any theater

Anywhere
