Hayao Miyazaki is one of the most influential animators of today. He has created worlds with the use of his pen and imagination to draw what he thinks. Today, is his birthday, this Japanese animator has created many animated movies in the form of anime. One of my favorites of him is Spirited Away, the only one of his films to win an Academy Award for Best Animated Picture.
Spirited Away follows a young girl who is whisked away into a world of spirits when she and her parents explore an abandoned amusement park. Chihiro, the young girl, discovers the real meaning behind the amusement park when she sees that her parents are turned into pigs. Running into horrifying spirits every where, she encounters a young man who tries to protect her from their power. However, she is discovered and brought to a witch, who makes a deal with her. If she does what she wants, then she and her family will be freed. Following many dangerous and risky tests, Chihiro, must pass all of them before time runs out. Will she be able to do it in time?
Spirited Away came out in 2002 to audiences who were whisked away just like Chihiro was. Every time I watch this movie, I enter this magical world as well. Enchanting and filled with action Spirited Away is one film to not miss.
