1776

Happy Independence Day everyone! On July 4, 1776 the Declaration of Independence was signed marking the day America started to become free. Although, this was not met without resistance by many others who did not feel that Independence was necessary for the colonies. In the 1972 musical 1776 we are introduced to the Founding Fathers.

With George Washington struggling against the British Empire, John Adams starts to take up the cause for independence in his home state of Massachusetts. From there he says good-bye to his wife Abigail and heads off to Pennsylvania where he meets up with Benjamin Franklin. From there the two patriots start to work on spreading the word of independence. After convincing a few other men to go with them, they start to work on leading America into freedom. However, this is not met without the opposition of many people questioning whether this is a good idea or not. In the end, Adams and Franklin are able to convince the others to sign the Declaration of Independence written by Thomas Jefferson. The movie ends with the signatures going onto the historical piece of paper leading America to becoming the country She is today.

On July 4, 1776 the Declaration of Independence was signed as shown in the movie musical 1776. However, the men that signed this piece of paper knew that there could be dire consequences for their friends and neighbors. None the less they did so with America becoming the country that many people dream of. Happy Independence Day everyone!
