Bedknobs and Broomsticks poster.jpgAngela Lansbury has certainly left her mark in Hollywood. As an actress she sang and danced her way into our hearts. Today, October 16, she celebrates her birthday. In the 1971 classic Bedknobs and Broomsticks she proves just why she deserves her spot in history.

Charlie, Claire, and Paul are sent away from London to escape the Blitz during World War II. When they get to their new host, Miss Price they learn that she is witch. So, along for the magical ride it is for the children. From watching her practice spells to getting a stolen medallion from Leonidas, a lion king in Naboombu with a swindler known as Professor Browne. However, the children find that their temporary home with Miss Price is invaded by the Nazi spies. Yet, Miss Price is not willing to let them gain the footing they hoped for. Using her magical powers, she sets off an amusing set of spells that scare off the spies. Sadly, Miss Price ends up losing her magic shop causing her magical powers. In the meantime, Professor Browne has decided to join the army. The children stay the rest of the war with Miss Price in the country with an enchanted bedknob.

Bedknobs and Broomsticks premiered in 1971 starring Angela Lansbury. On October 16, 1925 she was brought into the world making today her birthday. I hope she has a very special day as she has certainly left her mark in the world.
