Read-It Wednesday: Mrs. Poe

Part romance, part mystery, part biography, this fictional reenactment of the mistress of Edgar Allan Poe escorts you into the glittering world of New York in the 1840s, when poets were celebrities and the admission of emotions—like silk gowns and glossy beaver hats—were a luxury.:

One of my favorite authors of all time is Edgar Allan Poe. So, when I noticed a book by the name Mrs. Poe by Lynn Cullen and learned of good reviews, I couldn’t resist reading. The book takes place in New York City in 1845 where Frances Osgood dreams of becoming a famous writer. After reading the poem The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe she becomes enthralled with his work. When she learns that there is a chance to meet him she jumps at the chance. Anxious to meet her idol, she finds herself in a love triangle between Edgar Allan Poe and his wife. Feelings aside, Frances must figure out what she wants in the end from Poe as well as find her writing into the life she wants.
