Kevin Hart, yes, the Kevin Hart came to The Garde Arts Center in New London, Connecticut. The one and only Kevin Hart came to deliver a spectacular show. His appearance came at short notice, yet that didn’t stop him from selling out the theater. June 30th, 2017 was one heck of a show for many to come and see.
However, this show was a little different than other shows at the Garde Arts Center. From the start there were people who were scanning in tickets with signs around the lobby telling patrons they can’t take their phones out in the theater for a very important reason. You see the show that Kevin Hart put on is called Kevin Hart Tries Out New Material. The name of the title says it all, the comedy that Kevin was trying out on the audience has never been heard before.
In the lobby many patrons were admiring posters for Damien Escobar, Garrison Keilor, Gordon Lightfoot, and Michael McDonald. All four upcoming shows at the Garde seemed to grab the attention of many. However, the one subject on everyone’s mind was seeing Kevin Hart on stage for the first time. Fans of Kevin Hart from all over New London County and beyond were coming to see the show that they had just heard about a couple of days before.
The moment the doors opened patrons flooded inside to get their seats, but not before being reminded to keep their cell phones off and away while inside. The stage was set with a single microphone and stool against a black curtain. Once the lights flickered many patrons headed inside to see the start of the show. First Steve Sigel came on stage to announce upcoming shows, like PJ Masks, before explaining how this spectacular event came to be. Once he mentioned Kevin Hart’s named the audience roared with applause. He told everyone about how he had talked to his manager by reminding everyone to keep their cell phones away, the main reason for their being a security presence.
Once Steve Sigel finished there was an opening act emceed by Joey Wells. With laughs, guffaws, and awes from the crowed for him and the two other comedians a red velvet curtain came down and Kevin Hart came on to a standing ovation. Everyone stood up the moment it was announced Kevin Hart was coming on stage. The moment he came on the laughter didn’t stop until he finished his jokes and stand up routine. When the show came to a close everyone was asked to keep what they had heard at the Garde and the Garde alone.
With patrons streaming out everyone was talking about seeing the one and only Kevin Hart on stage for the first time. Yet, keeping the new material confidential is very important to Kevin Hart and the other comedians who performed. Needless to say it was a comedic night at the Garde Arts Center in New London, Connecticut.
