South Pacific is one of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s best known musicals. Taking place on a Polynesian Island during World War II we follow as love takes hold for many of the residents. Starting off with nurse Nellie Forbush as she pursues Emile de Becque a French Plantation owner. However, she starts to find flaws in Emile that lead her to question her feelings. Along with Bloody Mary, an Island native, who is known for wheeling and dealing, and her daughter, Tiat, who has come to love an American soldier there doesn’t seem to be anything that stops this musical from taking off.
